Centerville Old Home Week

Centerville

Since the Old Home Week Celebration was revived in 1994 Centerville residents, their friends, and visitors from near and far have participated in a variety of activities each year closely resembling the activities of the original event. The a cappella concerts held in the Craigville Tabernacle, the talks highlighting the rich history of our Village at the Library, the occasional auctions by the Beautification Committee, the Civic Association Summer Meeting along with strawberry short cake and Four Seas Ice Cream where Village information and concerns are shared, always a Three mile Road Race and Walk, a Lobster Roll Dinner at the church, and then The Museums' Annual Yard Sale and Historic walk of Main Street. All of this is topped off with a band concert on Craigville Beach featuring the one and only Moonlighters followed by the all time favorite a bonfire on the beach under the stars. Not to be forgotten is the annual ice cream social for kids and adults alike.

Everyone is invited to appreciate Centerville’s past, enjoy its present, and to anticipate its future by participating in this historic event.

Cape Cod's Coolest Dessert

St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Centerville

Starting at 1:00 PM

Ending at 3:00 PM

Four Seas Ice Cream, Cape Cod’s favorite ice cream store for 80 years, is celebrating its anniversary this year, and we are having 20 of Cape Cod’s best Chef’s/Restaurants participating in a fundraiser to mark the occasion. The Chefs will use our ice cream in a dessert they create and then serve it at their restaurants.

In exchange, we’re asking each restaurant to donate 50 cents to a $1 of each dessert created for the contest – the money will all go to Children’s Cove, an organization that helps Cape Cod children who’ve been the victims of sexual assault and abuse. Then the restaurant will encourage their customers to come to our finale event, to be held Aug. 3 from 1pm-4pm at the St. George Greek Orthodox Church, in Centerville.

If they win they receive “The Golden Scoop” award and get to advertise they serve the “Cape Cod’s Coolest Dessert”!

We’re hoping for a thousand people. Each individual who purchases a ticket will be given a ballot to vote for the “Coolest Dessert on Cape Cod”. Celebrity judges will also judge the desserts and the next day the winner will be announced on Cool 102. We’ll also have an award for “coolest booth” at the event.

An entrance fee will be charged to the public for the event and there will be live music, raffles, silent auction, balloons, face painting and much more.

We hope that you will see the need to support the children in our community and provide them with the support and love that they need during a very traumatic and difficult time, as well as help celebrate the anniversary of a small business that’s been in the community for 80 years.

Tickets available soon at Four Seas.
