Train to Christmas Town

Trains depart from Hyannis Depot

The conductor will welcome you aboard and punch your ticket as you find your seat in warm, decorated cars. Meet Bumblebee the Polar Bear, Wabash the Squirrel, even Zephyr the depot cat and laugh along with Elves while they’re busy serving cookies and cocoa, and leading guests in singing Christmas carols. Upon arrival at Christmas Town, Santa climbs on board and walks through the cars greeting each child with holiday cheer and his signature “Ho, Ho, Ho”!



Festival of Trees

Whaling Museum, Nantucket

Event Description: Now in its 21st year, this island tradition features community-crafted trees designed by local merchants, nonprofit organizations, artists & children. The Whaling Museum is transformed into a festive winter wonderland for the entire month of December.

Join us for our annual holiday event, featuring more lights and decorations than ever! New this year: The Holiday Train, a festive model railway display that will travel through the Special Exhibitions Gallery along elevated tracks and over a spectacular bridge made of all-natural materials. Enjoy music and dance performances at 6:30 in the Automobile Gallery. St. Nick will hold court in the Model T. Gingerbread houses created by local companies and students will be on display. Holiday crafts, carousel rides, Hidden Hollow by moonlight, and marshmallow roasting over a fire pit all add up to a great holiday celebration.



5th Annual Glassblowers' Christmas

Sandwich Glass Museum, 129 Main Street, Sandwich

Festive holidays in Sandwich begin at the Sandwich Glass Museum November 15 - December 30 when the Museum presents its 5th Annual Glassblowers' Christmas.  Hundreds of unique glass ornaments made by the region's finest local and national glass artists, will adorn Christmas trees in the Contemporary Gallery. The visitor will be transported into a magical display of color and childhood memories.  It is truly an enchanting time at the Museum.

In addition, our Special Exhibition: Dolls of Yesteryear - Antique Dolls and Glass Toys will enthrall young and old alike!  In partnership with the Yesteryears Doll Collectors an unusual and one-of-a-kind collection of period dolls will be displayed together with antique glass toys from times gone by!

First Night Sandwich 2015

  This year’s theme “Town of the Giant’s” honor’s Michael Magyar of the Glass Studio of Cape Cod’s giant sculptures. This is the year to tell all that Sandwich is the “Town of Giants” and showcase this fantastic spectacle that is exclusive to the oldest town on Cape Cod.   First Night Sandwich is a non-alcoholic Family Festival of multi-cultural activities including hands –on activities for children, musical presentations and exciting live performances in venues located both inside and outdoors in Sandwich Village. Food will be available through-out the village at some of the many different venues. A Revelers Parade of Giants, music, bioluminescence bicycles, horses and much more will wind down Main Street at 8 pm. A Grand Finale Countdown extravaganza will occur on the shore of Shawme Pond at 9 pm. The event will end this incredible year of the 375 Celebration in grand style with First Night Sandwich 2015! Buttons: $10 Adults, $6 for children.


Gala Moulin Rouge New Year's Eve Ball

Our 2014 New Year’s Eve Ball theme is Moulin Rouge, modeled after the Parisian cabaret. Ring in 2015 in The Nantucket Hotel’s Grand Ballroom with dancing and music by the Perry Rossi Orchestra; hors d’oeuvres; a spectacular dessert buffet; light bites; and a champagne toast at midnight. Moulin Rouge-inspired attire is encouraged.

Tickets: $105 per adult, ages 21 and older (if purchased before December 1); $120 per person thereafter.
