Falmouth Holidays By The Sea Weekend

Town Green, Falmouth Harbor, Main Street, and other locations in Falmouth

This festive weekend includes the arrival of Santa sailing into Falmouth Harbor, the Annual Lighting of the Falmouth Village Green with caroling and a special visit from Santa, and the downtown Holiday Stroll. 

Noon on Sunday is kick-off time for the annual Falmouth Christmas Parade. Renowned for being southeast Massachusetts’ largest Christmas parade, highlights include decorated floats, marching bands, live animals, costumed characters and Santa Claus, too. It's one of the premier Cape Cod events in December - definitely not to be missed!

44th Annual Christmas Stroll

Nantucket

Nantucket's Christmas Stroll Weekend is enchanting and magical--a glittering Advent calendar come to life--transforming the island into an awe-inspiring panorama of sight and sound.  Santa arrives via his nautical sleigh--with the help of the Coast Guard--and parades up Main Street to the Jared Coffin House, where he meets with children young and old to determine whether they've been naughty or nice. At the top of Main Street, the Magical Talking Tree mystifies children of all ages, and a Christmas Marketplace showcases the talents of local businesses--from foods and crafts to handmade wares and informational tables. Activities abound throughout Town, and there's even a Scavenger Hunt!  There's no time machine needed to transport yourself back to Christmases past in this Charles Dickens' backdrop come to life.  We invite you to celebrate with us!

We are a production brewery so one tour a day is all we can handle in terms of interrupting our warehouse space.  If you miss the tour for the day feel free to come by for a TASTING anyway!

For the first time in twelve years, the production is returning to a New England stage. Annual Christmas Tree Lighting & Community Caroling

Nantucket Noel begins the day after Thanksgiving with the eagerly awaited Christmas Tree Lighting & Caroling ceremony. Main Street--closed to vehicular traffic--teems with  locals and visitors alike who gather in anxious expectation to chant along with our venerable Town Crier as he begins the traditional countdown. 10-9-8!  At its culmination, over 150 balsam trees magically illuminate and our central cobblestone thoroughfare is bathed in a blaze of colored lights.  The enchantment intensifies as the jubilant sound of traditional holiday carols--led by the Accidentals & Naturals a capella group--fills the air, marking the start of Nantucket Noel--a month chock full of festivities to delight one and all.

16th Annual Nantucket Atheneum Cold Turkey Plunge

Starting at 10:00 AM

Hundreds of spectators and swimmers--some in wacky wetsuits and festive, funky swimwear--brave the frigid waters of Nantucket Harbor on Thanksgiving morning to benefit the Weezie Library for Children. (To enhance the festivities, there's even an actual turkey mascot--bedecked in his own finery--trotting along the beach!) Individual "plungers" and teams solicit sponsors to donate to their completed "plunge." Complimentary hot chocolate, coffee and pastries are generously provided by local businesses. You won't want to miss this "theatrical" fundraiser held rain or shine at Children's Beach.

11th Annual Buzzards Bay Watershed Ride

Experience the beauty and spirit of the Buzzards Bay region in autumn at the 11th annual Buzzards Bay Watershed Ride on Sunday, October 1. Choose from three celebrated 100, 75, and 35-mile cycling routes that wind through farmland, coastal villages, cityscapes, cranberry bogs, and the back roads of Cape Cod to end with a waterfront finish line party in beautiful Woods Hole. All riders are fully supported with friendly volunteers, local food and beverages all day, and SAG wagons with ace traveling bike mechanics and First Aid. $50 registration fee includes five water stops, a hearty food truck lunch at scenic Eastover Farm, a dinner buffet with beer, wine and live music, and awards and prizes for top fundraisers and best team uniforms.

These juried shows are held on the lawn of the Sandwich Public Library, 142 Main St., Sandwich, MA from 10:00 am-4:00 pm. The dates are May 13, May 27, June 3, July 8, August 5, September 2, September 23, and October 7.

The shows feature fine art, jewelry, pottery, glass work, photographs, hand-crafted clothing, home accessories, wooden items, and much more made by local artisans!

All artisan fees are donated to the Sandwich Public Library to benefit youth art programs.

The Pilgrim's Progress: An Opera

Gloriæ Dei Cantores and Elements Theatre Company collaborate to present Ralph Vaughan Williams’ opera, The Pilgrim’s Progress, fully staged with orchestra and guest soloists at the Church of the Transfiguration, Orleans, MA, on October 27, 28 and November 3, 4 at 7:30PM. For the first time in twelve years, the production is returning to a New England stage. The opera will draw an international audience into a timeless story portraying the universal journey of humanity’s search for spiritual redemption.
