Nancy Marshall was born and raised a farmer's daughter in the small town of Westport, MA off the coast of the Atlantic. She is now a Cape Cod resident living in Brewster, who takes delight in the wonderful images of the New England seasons and our natural environment in all its beauty.

Aquatic Explorations Cruise[more]

Dive into marine science (not literally) and with Mass Audubon Naturalists on a 2-hour boat cruise aboard Hy-Line's Sea Swan and discover creatures that live in Cape Cod waters! We'll use an otter trawl net, fish pots and plankton tow to bring everything from microscopic marine life to glowing comb jellies to small sharks on board for close up observation. This family oriented cruise will depart from the Ocean Street Dock in Hyannis, and travel through Hyannis Harbor, Lewis Bay, and near shore Nantucket Sound.

Join us on Saturday, June 3, 2017, and choose to ride 100, 50, or 20 miles with 1,500 other cyclists of all abilities including celebrities and pro-athletes  such as Tom Brady, Julian Edelman, Guy Fieri, George Hincapie & Christian Vande Velde, among others. Each route takes riders along scenic, country roads to the beach in Hyannis Port. All rides are fully supported, with rest stops every 25 miles and support vehicles on the road. The Taste of the Vineyard, or "The Taste" as it is affectionately known, is easily the most anticipated event on Martha’s Vineyard.  It’s a grand 2-night affair that kicks-off the Island’s social season in early June each year.  More than 30 years ago, the Taste was started by the Martha’s Vineyard Preservation Trust as a fund raiser for the restoration of the newly acquired Flying Horses Carousel. Just 50 miles south of Boston, the Buzzards Bay Swim features a one-of-a- kind scenic point-to-point course across outer New Bedford Harbor. Assisted by the U.S. Coast Guard and a local safety patrol, swimmers navigate 1.2 miles through the harbor and channel, passing by the iconic Butler Flats Lighthouse and the New Bedford Hurricane Barrier, one of the largest stone structures on the East Coast. At the thrilling finish, swimmers are welcomed with a beach party featuring a live steel drum band, pancakes cooked to order, gourmet coffee, free massages, and local beer!

The Buzzards Bay Swim is a fundraiser for the Buzzards Bay Coalition, a nonprofit that works to protect clean water in our region. $25 registration fee and $150 fundraising minimum (pay-or-raise) includes parking, free shuttle to the start line, bag check, chip timing, snacks, breakfast, beverages, event t-shirt, water bottle, swag bag, live music, free massage, awards, prizes, and a hefty bronze finisher's medal custom made by local artisans. A special concert commemorating the centennial birthday of John F. Kennedy featuring the Cape Symphony in partnership with the John F. Kennedy Museum Foundation in Hyannis. The concert is hosted by Jung-Ho Pak with guests including members of the Kennedy family, government leaders and distinguished artists. This celebration will be a moving and broad reflection on the legacy of President Kennedy accompanied by beautiful music, personal accounts, as well as historic videos and images.

Figawi Regatta / Memorial Day Weekend[more]

A kick-off to Nantucket and Cape Cod’s Summer season, this internationally recognized, top sailing event hosts entries from several states and nearly 250 boats. The Figawi race route runs from the Hyannis Jetty to the Nantucket Jetty. There is also a reverse race as well. Over 3,000 sailors, visitors and locals take part in this popular tradition. 2017 marks the 46th annual celebration.

The artists use the traditional genre of landscape painting in compelling new ways, addressing contemporary issues of land use, nature appreciation, and ecology through their paintings of the American environment. Each artist featured takes acute notice of the physical world at a time of heightened awareness of the landscape, informed by today’s concerns including climate change, environmental health, conservation and the green movement.

Barnstable Harbor Kayak and Climb Sandy Neck Lighthouse[more]

Long Pasture Sanctuary, 345 Bone Hill Road, Cummaquid

Join us as we kayak Cape Cod's largest barrier beach and salt marsh system and see for yourself why this is one of the state's most impressive coastal ecosystems. Traveling the great marsh by kayak offers a whole new perspective on nature, and an intimacy with the tide.

It also allows you to get into shallow waters, where larger boats can't go!

Launching from Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary, we will explore the many tidal creeks and islands of the harbor, looking for shorebirds, osprey, horseshoe crabs and other creatures of the marsh. We'll come ashore at the Sandy Neck barrier beach lighthouse and have the unusual privilege of climbing to the top to see the beautiful view.
