Most days, the locals and Cape visitors stop at the Barnstable Restaurant and Tavern and have a burger, some splendid Italian or a delicious thin crust pizza. The Tavern’s menu is comfort food centric which explains why the diners always return. However, and here’s the Cape Cod secret…..once a month, in the off season, Chef Bob Calderone pulls out all the stops and returns to his fine dining roots. With wife and business partner, Susan Finegold, the Tavern presents a 5 course wine dinner, each one with a different theme. http://www.barnstablerestaurant.com/special-events.html
Every December the Barnstable Restaurant and Tavern co- hosts with the talented Sabeur Diane Slater, Wine Manager of the Cape Cod Package Store a fabulous “Holiday Sparkling Wine Dinner”. Every year Chef Calderone and his staff cook a fabulous dinner that Escoffier would be proud of. Here is the menu from this exceptional dinner paired with superb wines thanks to Diane Slater, Cape Cod Package Store’s outstanding Wine Manager. (She really does polish her sword and sabre a bottle – this year it was a Jeroboam of Laurent Perrier!) Watch the Sabreur in action: https://www.facebook.com/154963837024/videos/10154512701637025/
